Cardenas Real Estate

Cardenas Real estate, one of Gran Canaria’s most well-established real estate agencies, has been operating in Gran Canaria for over 26 years. They have a deep understanding of the local property market and have access to some of the most exclusive properties on the island.

They mostly deal with foreigners (non-residents) and have perfectly bilingual staff. Many of their customers are from the UK. In the office they speak: Spanish, English, German, Norwegian, French and Italian. The website is in Spanish, English and German.

Honesty and reliability have been the keys to their success. These values can be found amongst all the staff members at Cardenas. They use a strict “no-hard-sales” approach, relying more upon positive word of mouth and their reputation as one of the most trustworthy agents on the island.

Ultimately, it’s in their best interest to find the right property for their clients, not just a quick sale for them.

At Cardenas, they build up strong relationships with their clients, providing extensive after sales service and advice. Most clients remain in contact with them for years after the actual property purchase.

Background
Cardenas real estate was set up in 1980 by Mr. Antonio García de Cárdenas and his wife Mrs. Rolande Chagrin, both of whom have a background in the hotel industry.

They’re both multilingual. Mr. Cárdenas, a native Spanish speaker, also speaks fluent English and German and is a certified real estate agent. Mrs. Chagrin speaks fluent English, French, German and Spanish.

The sales department is currently run by their daughter who speaks fluent German, English, French and Norwegian.

The first office was opened in Arguineguín, Gran Canaria. They now have two more offices in Puerto Rico and Playa de Mogán (see below).

Recent Awards

One of their proudest moments has been winning the coveted Bellevue Best Property Agents award in 2007.

The Bellevue awards are only given to agents who excel in terms of “professionalism, market knowledge, experience, choice/variety of properties, and, in particular, quality of service.”

Having the Belleveue logo on your web page or on the wall of your office says one thing most of all – outstanding quality. It’s very much sought after.

The Bellevue Best Property Agents award
The Bellevue awards were set up in order to encourage and increase the level of professionalism and customer service within the real estate industry, throughout the world. It aims to encourage and support the highest possible standards.

Once you receive the award, you’ll have to fight to hold onto it. In order to make sure an award holder’s standards don’t drop each one is re-assessed on a yearly basis.

If they don’t still offer the same levels of professionalism and customer service or have dropped their standards in any way, they’ll be taken of the list, will lose their title and will be forbidden from using the prestigious Bellevue logo.

The long-term goal of the awards is to support sustainable and high quality standards. Every year, they’re adding more and more agents to their list of the world’s top property agents and developers.

The Belleveue property awards benefit buyers and sellers as well as the agent themselves. They’re constantly on the look out for professional, trustworthy and reliable agents and developers, so that buyers and sellers can easily find a reputable agent. It’s an effective and productive way of bringing buyers, sellers and agents together.

This year (2007) we saw many lucky winners. Cardenas Real Estate was one of them.

New Developments in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands)

One of this year’s hottest new developments is Mirador de Lobos Golf, set for completion early next year – January 2008. It comes from Montaña Roja, the Canary Island’s number one real estate agent and property developer.

Fuerteventura is the most up-and-coming investment area in the Canary Islands at the moment. With fantastic pristine virgin beaches, a very favorable climate, great rental potential and good value properties, one can understand why.

Mirador de Lobos Golf
Mirador de Lobos consists of 150 high quality semi-detached villas and duplexes. All properties have three double bedrooms, two bedrooms, a guest bathroom, a large lounge/dining room and a separate kitchen. All these properties are surrounded by their own stunningly beautiful private golf course.

If that wasn’t enough, each property also has its own private garden and spacious roof terrace with excellent views out over the surrounding landscape.
Mirador de Lobos is located in one of the most privileged and exclusive parts of the island – Parque Natural area of Corralejo, in northern Fuerteventura.

This area has some truly spectacular natural landscapes and offers an excellent quality of life for anyone living there. It’s in big demand with investors too; investors looking to make significant returns on investment.

Just think, in a few months from now you could be playing golf (on your own private course) in the middle of winter, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the endless blue skies in just shorts and a t-shirt.

Why choose Fuerteventura?
Apart from having the best beaches in the whole of Europe, Fuerteventura has excellent investment potential.

Fuerteventura is located just 100 kms from Africa’s Western Sahara Desert. It’s the second largest of the Canary Islands and enjoys over three thousand hours of sunshine a year.
It’s a surfer’s paradise with excellent wind and wave conditions right throughout the year. It’s becoming more and more popular with UK and Irish investors.
The Canary Islands haven’t been affected by the recent property slump on the Spanish mainland. Demand is still very high for properties here. One of the main reasons is of course, the climate. The Canary Islands have year round sunshine and warm water and air temperatures right throughout the year.

Even in some of the most popular tourist destinations in southern Spain, it can be surprisingly cold during winter. The Canary Islands are the only place in Spain where you get guaranteed sun and warmth, making them the only genuine “winter sun” destinations in Spain.
For buy-to-let investors, they can charge tourist prices all year round. For people actually living here, they can enjoy living in an extremely pleasant place.

Apart from the beaches, climate and excellent quality of life, Fuerteventura has a growing expat community, a continually improving infrastructure and is now very accessible from most UK and Irish airports. It’s still remains free from the mass tourism, you often find on the other Canary Islands.

Background (Montaña Roja)
Montaña Roja is widely regarded as one of the most reputable real estate agents in the Canary Islands. After over ten years in the business they’ve established themselves as the Canary Island’s number one Real estate agent and property developer.

What distinguishes them from other property companies is that they work as both a real estate agent and a developer. This means that (by not using intermediaries) they can offer clients the best prices in the market. You’re effectively buying from the developer.
They also have a wide range of property types on their books.

At Montaña Roja, you’ll receive top class customer service that extends way beyond just finding you a property. They provide a comprehensive all round service covering everything from mortgages to surveyors and surveys.

Canary Island Living

If you’re looking for that dream property for sale in the Canary Islands, one of the best ways to find it is to go online. Casa Quest is where you’ll find the largest and most varied selection of properties for sale in Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.

It also provides local information about the individual islands, links to legal advice, articles and information about mortgages and finance. It was set up by a retired British medical practitioner, (Dr Paul Johnson) in an attempt to make buying and selling property in the Canary Islands easier.

Up and running since 2003, Casa Quest has everything you need to know about living or investing in the Canary Islands.

Canary Island Lifestyle – Diving off La Palma

La Palma is the largest of the western Canary Islands and has perfect water temperatures for scuba diving all year round. During the summer months water temperatures get up to a very cosy 25°C while in winter they rarely drop below a comfortable 18°C.

This is ocean diving. You won’t see the same ranges of colours that you’d see in say, the Red Sea but the visibility is excellent and the underwater landscape is spectacular.

La Palma is volcanic in origin and this makes for a fascinating underwater experience – one of the major highlights of diving here. Along with the many caves and chimneys, you can explore walls, grottos, canyons and tunnels.

You’ll see all kinds of stunning marine life living down here; everything from schooling fish, barracudas, groupers and trompet-fish to nudibranches, sea hares, scorpion fish and flounders. If you’re lucky you might even see an eagle ray or possibly even a manta ray or better still, a friendly turtle!

One of the best places to go diving on Gran Canaria is definitely Los Cancajos. The reef is massive and provides a broad range of diving options for both beginners and advanced. Most of the dives here don’t even require a boat. You can get to some of the best from the shore with minimum exertion. Everything’s very close.

Night diving is quite popular here, especially with a fool moon. There’s some fascinating bioluminescence to be seen along the reef.

You can also set up your own Casa Quest Casa property portfolio. This is basically a list of favourite properties that you can use to help narrow down the list of vast available properties. You can then decide which are the most relevant properties before contacting the agent or making an appointment to see the properties.
